If you plan on putting it in a 1500 then it would be worth it as long as the price is right. Its not the best thing out there but is a definet improovment from the 44. The simple fact that everything is bigger makes it stronger especially for serious off-road use. The other problems do still apply as PP said. I would say no more that $500 if it was in next to perfect shape and well maintained. Do you know what gears are in it? Are they in good shape? How are the ball joints and wheel bearings? Remember to make this axle compatible with a 1500 your gonna want to make all this stuff right first and then you will need to change your driveshaft. These are very easy to install in a 1500 but people forget that easy for some is not really cheap either. The axle very well could end up costing well over $1000 when all said and done. Just some more stuff to think about. There is a good write up on 1/2 ton swaps in the dodge section of pavementsucks.com you should check that out since it seems almost half the guys on there have done or helped do a swap before.
