When they pop up on ebay they often go for 5k plus in the condition of his, where similar automatic versions sell for 2k all day long. According to one of my Jeep historian/Chrysler guys, less than 400 manuals were sold per year from 97-01 in the US. I own a 97 five speed myself and love it!
WOW I wish I held out a few years ago and listed my 98' 4.0L 2 dr 5 spd slightly lifted XJ on ebay instead of selling it for only $2500 with 140k miles on autotrader/CL.
Well at least I have owned 3 98' 5.9L ZJs which there were less than 15k made. Have a nice lifted, locked, geared low one I'm selling now.
