Mine leaked from there as well, but never made an obvious audible noise in the cab. I think alot of black on mine was from forced pressure from trying to drive the truck with the ebv closed.
When I regasketed those, 3 of the 4 bolts broke at the collector to turbo. I ended up having to buy a new collector from ford. Which involved removing the turbo/pedestal. So while I had the pedestal removed I gutted the ebv and blocked off the actuator rod.
