Got my prototype burned on lunch today- I am dismounting the rim on lunch Monday and will burn the ring in and test fit before burning out four more (the prototype will be going on my spare tire rim).
24 holes burned from 1/4" plate:
I burned them from some shim stock (scrap plate) that is a bit rusty, but we just got a new APEX part sander that will clean them up perfectly (on Monday- the air lines to the Apex are currently frozen!).
What should I use for anti-coning rings? I have a wall at work full of hundreds of obsolete v-belts- I was thinking of just using those. I could also grab some bar stock and make some but that sounds like more work for about the same result...
