If you stopped on an incline, the brakes would stay applied until you released the cluth. Yes, you could take your foot right off the brake pedel on a steep incline and the car would just sit there.
Some Brat's, DL's, and GL's had the dual range setup, unfortunately Subaru never put one in the loyale. However, if i can find one of those transmissions, they bolt up to my setup with no issues, that's another thing Ive got on my list of stuff i want to do. That hill holder thing would be sweet! i do a lot of trail riding and occasionally up to silver lake so that'd def come in hand for me.
