I have no problem with this.
The problem is- for 20 years he had no interaction with the law, owned what are in reality hunting rifles, and had broken no laws- other than the one they would have had no knowledge of if he hadn't gone on television.
This is the biggest problem with drug laws, someone gets convicted on ANY drug charge, and rights are removed for life. Whatever happened to making the punishment fit the crime? (just for clarity, if he was using a gun to do a drug related crime, well- the lifetime ban is appropriate. Not enough info)
If anything, he's guilty of stupid, but unfortunately it's still legal to be stupid.
