Yep, that works well. A piece of white posterboard shows up nicely. Or put grease on the piece with holes, and then press it to the flat piece needed to be drilled. The grease will transfer over, and leave holes that you can mark and drill.

All kinds of things you can do. Clamp it in place, and use white out to mark. Use a metal handled disposable paint/acid brush, bent at a 90 degree angle to get in where you need it. (Or cut the end off a small paint brush and stick it at a right angle into a piece of dowel with a hole drilled in it).
