Default snow tires on FWD car in SE Michigan

Thinking about getting snow tires for the old lady. Her current all season tires that came on her car have like 10,000 miles on them, I just rotated them the other day and they have plenty of tread.

I drove my focus trhough the winter last year and had no complaints, but thought she may like the peice of mind/added safety of snow tires. She commutes about 65-80 miles per day.

Is it imperative to buy all 4, or will 2 for the front tires be enough to add a little help with braking and enough traction to avoid being stuck?
