First, what kind of boat/drive/engine? Maybe I missed it but that's pertinent. Second, don't trim outdrive all the way up (assuming it's an I/O) unless you have to to load/unload. This puts excess pressure on the bellows which is a pain to replace. Also, when off truck and stored trim outdrive as far down as possible. Spray bellows with armor-all to protect them. Even with the muffs, run very conservatively out of water. A hose just doesn't keep enough water running through for high rpm's. You'll want a bilge soon. I agree with the rest that's been said.
