that seal should have been replaced if that was the side they put ball joints on. it should still be replaced even if you dont have or use vacuum hubs. that seal also helps keep the axle shaft aligned properly. could casue excessive wear on the needle bearing in the
hub that the shaft rides on. btw you also need to use the right tool for pounding that seal on the axle shaft.
I've also seen people needed knew outer stub shafts because of this seal being blown out.
