well ended up getting one from harbor freight. hate china made shit but i can't find a better deal to suit my needs. ended up paying 180 out the door for the 16 speed floor model. assembling it was a piece of cake, but i found out the crank system for the table needed work. the gears inside have no washers or anything between them and the housing, so i installed 2 washers on the handle gear, then packed the inside of the housing with grease. goes up and down smooth as can be. just tried the drill out, and with a 3/8 bit i got through a 1/2 piece of bar stock in no time on the 720 rpm setting. i think i'm going to make a drip oiler though as metal cuts better with lubrication.
