I have a 87 Chevy scottsdale that I have just put a rebuilt engine in and I am now getting some knocking. I have narrowed the knocking down to the flywheel hitting the inspection cover. I have made sure that the bolts on the flywheel are all tight. The knocking seems to only do it when it is in reverse. The bell housing on the trans has one of the ears broke off but the internals work fine. Is there a way to replace the trans case or am I looking at finding a new trans? The trans is a 700r4 and I want to stick with what works, but having a bolt missing because of a broken bell housing is worrying me. Any info would be helpful.
