Default 96 f250 eo4d in limp mode

My trans in one of my plow trucks started acting up last week and before I drop the pan I figured I would ask here. If you put it in d it stays in first unless you shift manually to second then if you shift back to drive its like it goes into neutral. I've changed the vss. On the rear diff, pulled the cover to make sure the tone ring is good and changed diff fluid. Been scanned with a totl snapon scanner and has no codes. I've cleaned all the trans plugs and took apart the power distribution box to look for broke wires. No blow fuses. When it doesn't shift it throws the abs light but no code. Also swapped in a diff abs controller to no avail. This year is the easiest plowing i've done. I basically get payed to drive around so I know its not been beat and it hasent gotten over 160*. Also had the alt tested and it's good. Any help is appreciated
