I didn't get out to the garage much this weekend, but I find some time to check out builds of TJs with the fronts stretched out. I'm thinking it might be worth it after all.
Here's the axle sitting at what could be full bump if we don't push the axle forward.
Stretching 2" forward gets at least another inch of up travel, maybe more.
Oh, and it looks like the Wag pitman arm should provide plenty of swing running knuckle over on the Ford D60 knuckles. When I first did my d60 swap I ran a drop TJ arm, and it severely limited steering. The Wag arm has minimal drop and enough length to not have the bad steering issue.
