"If you wanted to teach people about the great things about America, a college campus is the last place you’d send them. Even fanatical Muslim terrorists don’t hate America like liberals do." Ann Coulter -- CPAC conference, 2002
I'd agree - other than the military academies, The Citadel, VMI, and a few small private schools like Hillsdale most college campuses and faculty are far-left liberals who dispise most of the principles and values this country was founded on. Case in point, the abuse (verbal and physical) directed at a campus conservative group at MSU. However, radical Islamists, Mexicans demanding seperate dormitories where only spanish is to be spoken, lesbain/gay/transgender groups, Peta idiots, etc... are allowed to spout their nonsense unmolested.
"This man should not be allowed near the president with a loaded gun. At the least, he's an immature nut. At worst, he's a ticking time bomb, in a simmering rage at America's supposed mistreatment of Muslims.
Like many commentators, she often goes waaay overboard when making a point. I don't fully agree with her here.
These alleged civil liberties concerns have only one purpose: to give Muslims a cushion for another attack on America. There is no principled basis for opposition to using Arab appearance as a factor in airport screening procedures." -- Ann Coulter's "If the profile fits...," 1/10/02
Since 9/11 we have over-responded to perceived cases of "profiling" and other imaginary slights in an effort to appear even-handed. Radical Islamists are trying to perpetrate violence - we should overtly focus on them. Again, I agree.
How about these:
We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity. We weren't punctilious about locating and punishing only Hitler and his top officers. We carpet-bombed German cities; we killed civilians. That's war. And this is war.
Written 9/12/2001 after she lost a friend on the plane that crashed into the Pentagon. She makes a real point - war is with a nation - not an individual or small group of individuals. It's all or nothing (and not to be taken lightly).
"Liberals love America like O.J. loved Nicole."
"I was not enthusiastic about the last Gulf war. Of course, it goes without saying, I rooted for our team once the shooting started. But I wasn't for that war. I was also against sending Americans to the Balkans. My point is, I'm genuinely against America deploying troops without a really, really good reason. I just can't imagine anyone not seeing 9/11 as a really good reason for wiping out Islamic totalitarians."
“You can severely reduce your chances of having a false accusation of rape leveled against you if you don't hire strange women to come to your house and take their clothes off for money. Also, you can severely reduce your chances of being raped if you do not go to strange men's houses and take your clothes off for money.”
What you have to understand about Ann is that (like Rush Limbaugh) she's 50% entertainer and 50% commentator. She takes extreme positions and makes outrageous statements to draw attention (and make a living - when she was more moderate you never heard of her).
