What’s the life span of a rope compared to a strap? The enclosed core of the ropes seems like it would increase life span, or would it trap debris and make things worse?
My rope is 40ft long and I pulled a CCLB superduty off test hill with my jeep. His front tires were hanging and I pulled him off the hill. It took two tries and we broke his strap. I backed up to his truck and got a nice running start and hit hard; rope has more give than a strap and does awesome. It has been soaked in mud and knotted. Easy to clean and unknot. I have the 1" x40'... I recommend this above any strap. Mine is rated at 36,000lbs

This is his site I think. http://www.krissplicing.com/recovery-ropes.php
