I am going to replace the pinion seal in the rear axle. Does the pinion nut have a torque spec to maintain proper bearing pre-load?
You're going to want to do a pinion torque to rotate measurement before you remove the pinion nut, and match that when you re-assemble. The axle is set up new to a specified torque to rotate value, but after the bearings run for a few thousand miles, the TTR will drop. Many a bearing set has been destroyed after the nut is torqued to achieve a "new" range TTR on a used set of pinion bearings.
