Default Trans leak out of bellhousing

so i bought a 87 Bronco2 a year ago i started building it and i finished it last friday. well during this weekend i started driving it and everything seemed ok. today me and a buddy planned a trip to the mounds to see what was up with it and on my way there he pulled over and told me i was smoking really bad. well it turns out i have a massive leak coming from my bell housing of my trans. it drips in park and pours in drive. i wanna say its my torque converter seal but im not positive. anybody have any other ideas on why it would be pissing trans fluid? also the guy who owned it before me overfilled the trans but idk if that would have anything to do with it. any help would be amazing thank you.
