Just be cautious of anything called a "Race Locker". Many are only half of a locker! To save weight, the left side "clutch" is left out of many designs. Therefore, only the right axle shaft is able to disengage in corners. They are also not a "soft locker". The race teams want the re-lock immediately for traction out of corners. The weight savings someone mentioned is (mostly) from the scallops around the ring gear bolts holes (as someone else speculated).

Point - A typical oval track "race locker" of Nascar style is a very bad choice for off-road driving.
