Also, I don't believe a gear change will help mpgs. Its more the tires causing a loss in mpgs then anything else. It sits higher, more rolling resistance and on and on...
keep the 31's for best mileage. As soon as those larger tires are put on you'll never get factory millage no matter what gear you run.
