You're adding misinformation.
A live axle is a STRAIGHT AXLE that has NO DIFFERENTIAL and constantly spins ie, is under power. The term was then loosely used to describe straight front axles.
What you are describing is a Ranger that does not have any sort of disconnect and the front axle shafts are spinning because there is no sort of locking hub, either automatic or manual.
I am not attempting to add anything to this thread, I am correcting you (again) for using the wrong term to describe something.
