It was serious kickstand, I've not replaced ball joints on an IFS 4wd truck, didn't know you could skip those steps. I've only done ball joints on 2wd truck, yj, and a buddies car.
ya its pretty simple. on my cummins the wheel bearing needs to come out. the shaft comes out, both nuts off the balljoints have to come out to drop the knuckle and press the new joints in. and re torque everything.
on the ifs just pull the nut off the ball joint needed and beat on the knuckle till the ball joint pops loose or pickle fork. grind of or cut the 4 rivets holding the ball joint onto the arm and throw it away. the new ones bolt on to the control arm so its pretty simple.
