I know the CFLs take a while to warm up and get to full brightness outside in the winter months but I've had the same one in my porch light for 2 or 3 years and it keeps working. It might be because it rarely gets turned off.

I've been slowly switching over to them for the last 4 years as my incandescents burn out. I have yet to replace a CFL.
