You have a 100% hydraulic clutch. If you had problems, it is because you either had air in the line or your seals went bad and the fluid blew by. The spring that is missing on the clutch plate is only a dampener spring and is not a major component in the clutch system. When you replaced the master and slave cylinder and bled out the system, you solved the problem. As far as over filling the transmission, there is a DRAIN plug and a FILL plug. Remove the FILL plug and add fluid until it starts dripping out, put the plug back in. Since its a manual transmission, fluid level is not as critical as an automatic.
