The only positive thing in this whole situation is the knowledge that the media will make the names of the perpatrators public once they're identified.
In my experience, these individuals (if they're smart) will RUN to the nearest police precinct and turn themselves in - preferably during a busy time, with much traffic in the station.
Otherwise, they might be confronted by current or former members of the active-duty military or reserves - who won't be quite as sensitive to their civil rights. The term "blanket party" comes to mind.
Justice will be served, and the five "hardasses' will learn first-hand about "baby killiers" and other concepts like "esprit de corps" and comradeship.
