This is actually a common misconception. The initial startup deployment of e-85 fuel does utilize fossil fuels primarily for the production because we are not utilizing e-85 to self produce it at this time due to the high demand to get the fuel to market. Remember that MTBE was outlawed as a fuel mix in May and that ethanol has to be used in convention fuel mixing as well as for e-85. Therefore, the demand is much too high for supply to provide for its own self production as well as the consumer market.
