Personally I have thought for years that in hard times more older people should retire to let the young ones have some of the good jobs. Than at 53 I was without a job and I now know part of the reason people keep working. INSURANCE I do not care how well you prepare for retirement it is really difficult to afford $1500-$2000 a month for health insurance for a husband and wife. Even when you turn 65 and get on medicare there are still INSURANCE costs that everyone needs to pay. I still am semi-retired and plan on staying that way as long as I can afford to pay INSURANCE. As for the pension thing that is pretty much a thing of the past. If you had one you may get it or may not. I started paying into SS in 1966 and we all know where that is heading. So really can not count to much on that plan.
