SOLD - 2000 Buell Lightning X1
Blue Streak with PM wheels (the color scheme from all the flyers that year). 1203cc FI, 5-speed, Thunderstorm heads. This is not your regular Sportster motor. The layout is the same, but the engine is made up of a lot of lightweight, forged parts. Driveline is stock aside from Factory Race Kit (IIRC, the Race Kit ECM gives you another 1,000 rpm on the redline? its been so long I forget.) Entire exhaust system was coated prior to installation with a ceramic exterior and a refractory interior coating. Looks like polished aluminum when cleaned up. Race Kit muffler is now empty, so bike is loud as fukc . Factory accessory seat with matching blue piping (kind of a rare thing). About 10,000 miles. Low-mile Pirelli Dragon GTS's. Original owner. Home dealer is H-D of Port Huron, although it has been to ABC, Cummings, and perhaps some others. Baseline dyno runs were done at Port Huron and I should still have those graphs somewhere. Always stored indoors. I believe this was the last year for an all-black engine with bright trim. Burns right up to 140 in 5th. Swap in one of the Baker 6-speeds and you will go faster if the wind does not push you off.
Needs some plastic pieces and new handlebars to be perfect (they are off a hair). Just never got around to replacing them after the last mishap into the grass. The bike doesn't have much body on it in the first place, but IIRC the last time I bought fully painted plastics and bolted them on, it was like $300-$400 for the entire bike? The pieces are very cheap compared to a metric. I bought a new battery last season, but don't remember whether I disconnected it this winter. It has a back seat, but really isn't meant for a passenger. Most times I ride around with my feet on the back pegs.
Bike just isn't getting used and I need cash. I don't have any recent pictures, but will take some in the next day or so.
$2500. No trades. I did a quick search and it seems X1's of this vintage with comparable miles are starting around $3500. Bring cash, get motorcycle.
Includes the Factory shop manuals, stand, original header, original muffler, original seat, the belt guard (currently removed), and an extra rear fender that I was going to trim, yet never got around to it.
Available seperately is a pair of matching solid black HJC helmets with the full, flip-up fronts (smokers? helmets) and two plain black Joe Rocket mesh jackets with liners. One fits me, the other set is slightly smaller for a female.
Here's what it looked like when new just so you can tell what it is until I can get current pics up. The last shot is the only pic I could find after the Race Kit was installed. Nothing has been polished in a long time, so the shiny stuff will require attention.
