Salt is up this year. That's a fact. There is a sump in catch basins that catch sand. The sand can not be reused due to contamination. Years ago we used to use oil well brine. We got it for free. We can no longer use it due to contamination. There are many techniques used for ice removal. We brine roads prior to storms that we know are comming. This aids in ice removal while plowing and allows the rolled down snow to come off more easily using less blade pressure. Anyone know how many gallons per mile are used while doing this? How many pounds of salt are used per mile?
