You can test them but it will probably come back as a good part. When places like autozone test them it is not under real world conditions like 220 degree under hood temperatures. When they get hot they fail, cool off and it works again. Good news is there are millions of them in junk yards, go get one for about $10 and see if that fixes the problem. Brand new I think they are about $70.
