I have a new respect for these boats after this weekend. I met a guy who has one. I took this picture of his boat last year at Hardy:
I ran into him at Gun Lake on Saturday and got to talk to him. I was surprised to hear that he actually used it how it was meant to be used and raced it. I didn't realize what they really put the boats through. He commonly jumps land and logs and carries a come a long with him. That is his backup plan when he gets hung up on a big log or launches it too far up on shore. I didn't realize that these boats were capable of running in 4" of water, and as you can tell in the video, he does less than that on occasion. Basically, he runs where canoes can't.
