Just to clear things up a little bit,
If the ORV is equipped with an approved roof [ rollbar ect ] and the operator and passengers are wearing properly adjusted and fastened safety belts, they will NOT need to wear a helmet.
Any person who is under the age of 16 years old must posses a valid ORV safety training certificate and be under the direct visual supervision of an adult while operating.

Be VERY careful when selecting an ORV Safety Instructor off the DNR's website. Only a handfull of those listed ORV instructors on the DNR website have the training to even remotely be classified as a competant Instructor, most dont even own a ORV. If you and your youth really want to walk away from the ORV safety class with a hell of alot more information than you walked thru the door with, seek your training class from www.michatv.com
