How much is it rubbing the tire? If it's enough to change the angle of the strap I wouldn't do it. Under load the tire could deflect and allow slack in the strap. If it's just barely rubbing & the strap is pretty much straight, I wouldn't worry about it.
Enough to change the angle slightly. I think I'm going to be wheeling at Rocks and Valleys this weekend so I try again and post back at some point. Last weekend, I ran the fronts straight out (well slight outward pulls) and the rears had to be crisscrossed. Next, I'd like to get a set of straps like these, so they have a more positive attachment to the axle straps.
