I wouldn't worry about mud in your exhaust pipe, but if you really don't want to take any chances, just plug your exhaust next time you know you'll be out in deep mud with a potato or something that will be able to take form to your pipe for a nice, sealed fit. As for the engine, keep the 4.2L and just do some simple mods. Start by taking your air filter off for better air flow. And don't worry about the water in your intake; it's actually quite beneficial as it cleans out oil sludge and carbon build up. Also, I put one of these adjustable power bands on my truck and will say it will woke it up. Good luck!
