if you want to spend the money on the larger trailer go for it, the gear on the trailer determines the GCWR until you start considering draw weight and and hitch weight. IE I ran a dully with a 30' flatbed, but ran into the fact that we were haling a draw weight of 18K or more on a 16K hitch... did the math on it, 6,500lb trailer + 12,000lb contents = broken hitch.

what you DO need to observe is the axle load limits because that will determine the life of the bearings.

Keep in mind too that the clutch can be a factor in the GCWR.
