i ended up buying a Nikon coolpix L18. Only 8 megapixels, but for $100 i figured it wasnt too bad. Nikon seems to be a good name for digital cameras, its got the 3" LCD display, 19 shooting modes, red-eye correction etc... good enough for what i'm doing plus it left me extra money to buy a bigger memory card for it.
Megapixel means almost nothing, its all marketing unless you print out huge posters. 4 megapixels will print out great normal sized posters. More mega pixels can actually mean less quality in some situations also because it can hurt the low light quality. The one you picked has some of the best low light quality and better than the 10mp cameras in that price range.
I would take a Nikon D2h which is only 4mp over any of the 10+megapixel point and shoot cameras
