YJ Build (First One) Updated 5/12/13
Like the rest of the first timers this is going to take a while and I'm learning as I go. Got a 1991 yj frame and axles from gmotox(great guy to deal with). Frame had v8 mounts and some rough spots. Ground off mounts, front panhard bracket, intermediate member and rear cross member (you'll see why in the pics). Had it beaded then it went to a buddy of mine, who is a great welder. There we started repairs. The thin spots he burned thru and filled in with the mig. I went behind and ground them down. Cut out the split section in front of the front panhard bracket welded in a new pc. Welded back on brackets, crossmembers and stock motor mounts. Ordered the crossmembers from moparpartsamerica.com. Intermediate crossmember didn't come with back supports so we had to fab some. Overall, I believe the frame is stronger now then when it came from the factory. Got it back to my place and put on two coats of POR15.
All sand blasting to be done on this project will be done by SS Stripping in Sterling Hgts. Talk to Chris, great guy and will give you a good deal!!!!!
