They did the same thing on the Huron-Manistee NF last Plan.
Don't expect to get very many roads approved.
Don't expect to get ANYTHING even CLOSE to a river valley or swamp approved.
Don't expect to get anything that goes uphill approved.
What does that leave?
A bunch of dry, flat, dusty, scrub lands that would bore ANYONE.
The best you can do is GPS E V E R Y T H I N G out there and submit it (can I get a copy of the data too?).
Then KEEP your GPS data for the future fight you'll be involved in trying to keep the trails you want. They'll site some environmental crap on you to close it.
If they do site "studies" -- GET COPIES of them! I can have them submitted to scientific 'peer' review. The ones we've been able to get our hands on so far have ALL failed MISERABLY and as such should NOT be used in making determinations for Forest direction. The problem is getting them to tell you what studies they're using to base their findings upon.
Keep us informed, we're fighting the H-M Plan.
