1) Hubs don't matter - they are vacuum actuated (as far as I know they still are) and remain "unlocked" unless told to lock by the 4WD ECU.

2) Pulling the R-drive shaft is the best bet, as the T-case doesn't have a specific "N" shift location....if you pull the shift motor off the back of the T-case, there are 3 detented positions that it can be shifted in to (uses a worm gear I believe, but in any regard, the "shifter" must be rotated to change mode selection) which are 2wd, 4hi, and 4 lo.

While I don't know about the 'tow kit,' if you try a few dealers and they don't know about it, pulling the shaft is the best thing to do
