From what I can get out of SOS, Michigan State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement (Weighmasters), it's 'Recreational Vehicle' classification that get's you the exemption. 'Not for Hire' doesn't mean squat anymore. The Weighmasters are pulling over the horse trailer people and telling them, If you go to a horse show and compete, and win some money, it's comercial, and therefore subject to DOT numbers, weigh stations, CDL A or B, Air Brake endorsements, etc....

You got to be shitting me!!! Now that you mention it, i have seen more and more horse trailer rigs pulled over and that used to be rare. I pull a 3 place myself, just not very often. We do shows, but only for ribbons and shit.
