What's happend to the Big 3 is what's happening to the U.S. the Big 3 were blowing all of their competition out of the water. The "middle class" workers in the companies (designers and engineers) were kicking ass all over the place so the guys on the lines and in the corner offices just sat back to reap the benifits. Then the pressure turned on a little bit from Asia but the line workers were too busy worying about their bennifits and Union negotiations to allow them to do less work and get paid more. At the same time, there are a bunch of dumbasses in the corner offices who are used to making millions and not doing anything, but won't change when Asia puts the pressure on. Then the middle class/engineers don't have the support to do their jobs and everything snowballs into a big S*** pile that they can't get out of......so here we sit.
Agreed. And the key word is "sit".
