Do it right, and invest in a good brake controller(I like my Prodigy, they can be had under $100), and a weight distributing hitch.

On an old dodge, make sure your steering slop isn't bad, like most are(steering shafts, box movement, and worn track bars). And your shocks are good, too.

Mine (96 V10 2500) needs all those things. Comparing this to my old 2000 (V8 2500) which had the camper special rear swaybar, and tight(er) steering, there's a HUGE difference in stability. I'm going to retrofit a rear sway on this truck this summer.

I have a Prodigy controller in my tow rig. I like the how you can program 3 different gain amounts in it for empty, loaded, or different trailers.
