buy an xd compact with the i think 8 round short mag and the 13 round full size mag. it give you a compact gun with the versality of a full size and a compact. oh and go with a 45. GO BIG OR GO HOME.
Try the XDm .40. Has 3 different sized backstraps so one is bound to fit your hand better.
Also, put about 1000 rounds through mine without 1 failure to shoot or eject.
Shot a XD last weekend in 9mm. I like how it felt. But its also the only semi-auto I've seen that failed to eject. It only did it once and I pulled the mag out and rack the slide manually and it ejected. Cycled fine the rest of the day. We put about another 80 rounds threw it after that happened.
itchy has the xd9 i dont care for it really grip just doesnt feel good in my hand at all. im a big dude with big hands and it feels fat in my hands. just my .02
Not to be partial cause I own one, but ******'s right about the grip. Dont get me wrong I like the gun, but there's just something about the grip. Just seems like the gun is really fat. I've been carriying this gun for about a month now, and I'm starting to get used to it being on the thick side though. Put quite a few rounds through it, and havent had any problems. Wish I would have bought the 40. though. Stupid ass 9mm. WTF was I thinking.
I shot the xd 40 sub and the glock 27 back to back at the range a few weeks back. Both shot very well but FOR ME the XD just didnt feel right, I dont know if it was the back strap saftey or what but the glock was more comfortable, FOR ME. I would go to a range and shot them both side by side, run 100 rounds through both, see what you like. Based on what I have read you cant really go wrong with either, just a matter of what works best for you.
I have an XD-40 sub compact as my primary carry piece. i carry with the short mag, get the "pearce grip" mag extension, in my case it made the gun fit my hand perfect, i did'nt care for the feel of it without that, it left me with a finger hanging off. i've had this gun for years and shoot it at least once a week, at least 100 rds and i've never once had a misfire/jam. i would buy another and recommend to anyone in the market. My 2nd choice would be a Glock model 27, and 3rd choice was the S&W M&P sub compact 40, i shot all similar models when buying and always came back to this one.
