I've seen a few online. Unfortunately to get enough passenger room in the rear the back cabin area/doors need to be unproportionately long. An extended cab might look better.
Another idea I came up with, that I've never seen done, would be some sort of stretch done to an XJ, with proportionate stretching of the rear, and maybe front doors, to create a Suburban type XJ with third row seating. Think like the difference between a Tahoe and a Suburban. Square off rear doors, stretch 2 feet or so. If done right I think it could be pretty cool.
Yes, that is why it would really have to be a study in proportion. Now if someone wanted to take this whole concept to the next level, widen the whole body by 8-9 inches, maybe by splicing two together or something like that. Full width axles, and the topping point would be the splicing of grilles to make a 9 slot piece, ala WWII style!
