Put the motor, trans, tcase in (not neccesarily installed done but atleast resting in the mounts). Then when locating axles you can determine how far you can/can't stretch the wheelbase to possibly clear oil pan etc.
ok i think i will do the axles first...then if time or $ runs out i will still be wheelable. since i have gone thru the entire current driveline i trust it. when i go to do the motor it will be a bit higher but i have rollers so it shouldnt be too bad. as soon as im done with fall clean ups it is going under the knife
i must admit, im gonna feel a bit guilty cutting this up though. its a bit rusty but im the 3rd owner and it is STRAIGHT. 400 motor, standard trans, 205 (i think)
thank you trail junkie for storing it until i can get it home :thumb: (it drove half way there :teehee
got my 60 out of the 79 with the help of muddywater. also saved a couple other random parts just incase. i will snap a pic of the donor tomorrow, it looks sad :sonicjay:
im planning on staying with leaf springs, here are my questions.
my understanding is that with wagoneer springs i keep the stock perches buy due to the pins i will gain 2" of stretch for the front and rear. total gain being a 4" stretch. others are trying to talk me into waggys in the front and xj's in the rear. what is the gain? havent found too much on that (i have 2 kids and a wife, ie little time to search every build thread possible)
i want to stay as low as possible, i dont care about the tub so trimming the crap out of it is no bog deal. what combination of springs should i be looking at? i would prefer to be able to find used springs if possible.
What are the lengths and widths and pin locations of you stock springs? Maybe you can do something with those or we can figure out a different spring you can use.
From what I have found waggy's use yj mounts and give you 2" of stretch per end. That is the plan as of now unless people can shed light on the xj's for the rear. Also how much lift in the springs I will need
