Alright, i need to know some tow abilities for rv's. Going out looking this weekend and wondering about the various chassis/drivetrains. I seem to want to lean more in favor of an e-450 chassis versus the 350 and the v10 vs the 460 that I'm seeing in some and not sure what the chevy counterpart is. The other thing is I don't seem to see any place where they indicate the gearing they have. I would think I want either 3.73 or 4.10 for best of both worlds. Anyway, please help.

looking at probably 7500lbs jeep with trailer possible.

You mean no more joys of waking up with a stick in your back because the air mattress deflated again? No more soaking wet gear because the tent leaked again? No more tornadoes blowing your tent down with you in it? PeteC no longer waking you up in the middle of the night snoring? Oh wait, maybe that can still happen :tonka:

I am liking mine so much we will be in it the next 5 weekends plus a week at the end of that.

When we bought ours it was at a dealer that wasnt known for motohomes and they had it all summer. So I lowballed them in the fall and they bit, blue booked for 63, got it for 38,

So you are approaching a buyers market with fall coming up. Also check with local lenders, repo's are rampant right now.

I'm officially pissed off today now too. I have stellar credit which isn't the problem I'm having. The problem I'm having is the banks are only valuing the RV's i've looked at at their absolute lowest in NADA and thus refuse to finance. It's almost like I'd have better luck getting a used off a dealer lot and then if I don't like the financing, refi it immediately afterwards.

Thats common now days on anything used. Even vehicles. When we bought the Saab this spring they would only finance the lowest NADA price....which was $1500 less than the dealer was asking for it. So we had to get him down on the price a little and put a down payment on it and pay the tax/title/plate out of our pocket. Not a big deal.

thats all fine for cars where the difference is less than $5k usually...but when its closer to $10k difference or more its simply not feasible. I'm checking a few other ones out though too that are a couple years newer.

I went and looked at an '07 23 footer last night. Financing comes out pretty good on it too, but I can't afford it really until after I pay the jeep off in a couple months. No oven, and it had the rear bed in the corner floorplan. So, not perfect yet. The hunt continues. It cracks me up that its not a problem with being able to walk in with nothing down and my credit at all as much as its a lack of RV features more than anything.

The sales guy did point some things out to me though about the frame extensions the various makes use and why the Ford chassis is the better choice for what I want to do especially the 14050lb chassis. Occasionally there's a Chevy 12300lb one, but they didn't have the items I wanted or were a really stupid floorplan.

With the 2008's starting to go out the door now and over the next few months he said I might have good luck after the summer is officially over finding a decent used one though. Hopefully I can find one before my club's Silver Lake trip at the end of October.
