Lowrider Ranger to "Prerunner" Ranger

I bought a 99 short bed regular cab 2wd Ford Ranger to drive back and forth to work so my TJ can go back to toy status. It's a lowrider, I have always wanted one, it's super cute, however it rides like complete feces.

My thought was that I would throw a 2wd Cherokee beam under the front, off the shelf Cherokee long arms - fab some mounts, track bar mount, coil/shock mounts, etc. Also throw some flexy leaves in the back. I'd still drive it back and forth to work but also be dual purpose where I could throw on some paddles on it and go to the dunes.

As I am doing some research earlier today, it appears as if this bad boy has rack and pinion steering... Does this put a kabosh in my thoughts? Can a regular steering box be fabbed in?(i.e. compatible with the steering column)

Any ideas, thoughts, questions, comments, concerns?:thumb:
