Does anyone have any experience with it?

I have an H&R handi-rifle in .243, great for varminting, but not a lot of mass being thrown down range. I can mail my receiver in to the factory, and they can make me a new barrel for it for $90....which got me thinking. Ive always been intrigued by the big bore rounds, but dont have any real experience with them, and dont feel like dropping $1k on a S&W revolver to get a .500 platform.

This would be used as a novelty gun at the range, and a camping rifle. No formal hunting or cares about long range accuracy.

I talked to one of my revolver buddies, and he's dumbfounded that I can get a .500 platform for under $100. The only thing that really bothers me about it is how damned expensive .500 is (~$50 per 20). I still think Im going to go for it, and while the factory has my receiver I think Im going to have them make me a .177 barrel for it as well for my club's rimfire league. :woot:
