Is there a trustworthy place to donate old computers or am I better off smashing them and throwing them away? Looking for something close between Livonia and Milford.

Our local Goodwill store takes them and has a crew that disassembles everything for proper recycling. Keeps the harmful junk out of the landfill and puts people to work that would otherwise have difficulty finding jobs.

Make sure a big magnet makes friends with your hard drive first

make a boot disk with this: http://www.dban.org/download or eraser from sourceforge.net

it'll nuke the hdd to military spec if desired. then pull it and dismantle it with a big freaking hammer, fire and/or acid.

unless you replace your old crap sooner than most, your old crap probably is not worth the donation. I place my remnants at the curb and they magically disappear.

Took care of it. Took the drive out of the main computer I was concerned about. Even though there is nothing very interesting on it. Gave the rest to Canton Computers in Livonia. These kids assured me my info would be safely destroyed. LOL I'm sure they are scouring everything they can for any nudy pics or vdo's that I don't have. Heck, I would if I were them. :sonicjay:
