Looking at getting my gf something so she can ride with me. I have a cr250. We will mainly go trail riding and to the dunes twice a year.

I was looking at a crf230 for her or a cr125 if I get her a dirt bike. She is only 5'3" so a 125 might be too tall. Maybe a cr85 expert would be good but I'm guessing the 230 will have more power and be better in the dunes.

My question is will a 85 or 230f be better in the dunes? Also would the winner of those 2 work or would a 125 have a lot more power?

I may have to get her a sport quad instead but she wants a dirt bike just hard to find something that fits her and has enough power for the sand.

Crf230...way easier to ride than a 2stroke....and I would not advise to put a new rider out on the dunes during ANY weekend...sand riding takes years of practice to be good at and there are far too many morons on the dunes any given weekend. Take her out on a weekday and you'll have the place to yourselves.

Problem is going to be her height. I have a Yz250f and my GF who is 5'5ish cant touch the ground on it, I would have to put her on a small bike. We ride all the time, I ride my bike and she rides a 350cc quad. I learned a long time ago that if you put your gf on junk or something she doesn't like or comfortable on she wont want to go or wont want to ride for hours at a time.

From a totaled vehicle, open intox where I wasn't driving band a careless driving

No to a 2 stroke and no to a 125 for a new rider.
But it seems your going with 125
Thinking a 85 or 230f. I want to get her a 125 so she's set for good and can ride at the dunes but its too tall and powerful right now.

I'd expect her to hate the dunes, it's very physically demanding riding. I think with a 230 in the dunes in this situation, you've got enough bike and not enough rider. My wife rides a quad, because it's comfy, and she's happy with that. Ever take an unhappy woman off-roading or atv'ing.? It sucks haha.
Ya she won't be riding in the dunes until she's ready. She has climbed all the hills at the dunes on my dads rincon but she wants a bike. Yes I have your right its horrible lol

Don't let her on a bike. I understand you think she will be hot a hell. For one. It wl be the most Boring thing ever in the woods!! 2. She will hate it on Michigan trails that are sand. 3 I think your just a completely retarded bf to let her on a 125 race bike, even a 85 is way to much for her unless she's a 2 ton bertha. 4 your going to hate your life with either one if you can ride worth a shit
She is 115 lbs lol. Ya your right it definitely won't be like riding with my buddies but if she wants to get into riding I'm all for it. It will be boring at first but she will get better and then we will have a blast going riding together

cam buy yourself a brand new honda 450f and give her your old bike and call it good
Tempting but I don't think a cr250 is a good starter bike lol. How tall is your sister?

She should buy my CR250R. It comes with a paddle tire for the doons. Don't listen to these fools I went to the doons for the first time in July. It was easy as fuck, easier than the sand on the trails. These poosays probably don't even ride. I was launching off test hill by Sunday doing supermans, knack knacks, kiss of death all that trick shit.
Damn you crazy homie! Within riding once or twice my gf might be as good as you. Look out x games

Agree. I've been riding for a few years now and I still suck HARD in the sand. Silver Lake on a bike would be an offroad nightmare to me.

I'm 5'3 never touched the ground on any of my dirt bikes.(IT175&IT200)my street bike I can:). I could on my 1971TS 90 after I'd moved on to my DT250. On the 250 I could leaning to one side.
I always started bikes with kickstand down, hopped off up kickstand in gear push run letting out clutch jump on. I rode a lot of different bikes.
Had a Suzuki RV 125 I could touch the ground on. It had big floatation tires. I had a love/ hate for it. It was too easy in the sand - it was too easy in sand no challenge.
We had a rule if you can start it you can ride it. My cousin had a modded Kow 900,(I was 13-14) he didn't think I'd figure out the safety. I did, I got it started and took of with the kickstand still down:). He, and my dad stopped me. I didn't get in trouble he did:). He kept saying I didn't think you would do it.
At my age (52) , plus my bad leg I'd like a Yamaha TW. I'd sell my Intruder then.
By they way IM FEmale.

So your rule was that you could ride whatever you want as long as you could start it, even bikes that weren't yours? Your cousin got in trouble because you jumped on his bike without asking and got it started. Sounds like you needed to learn some etiquette.

I wouldn't ever jump on somebody else's bike without asking permission. :poke:

Have you thought about a crf150?
Crf150f is smaller like an 80 but much milder and not as good suspension.
Crf150r is a little 4 stroke rocket ship with great suspension.

I had a 230f, it was a fun little bike but the suspension was my main dislike, but then again I'm over 200 lbs. it lacked power to be fun in the sand.
